Myotherapy & Remedial Massage
Myotherapy is a manual therapy focusing on the diagnosis, treatment and management of musculoskeletal pain. It involves the therapeutic process of relieving pain through the manual treatment and manipulation of muscles, ligaments and tendons.
Myotherapists assess and treat myofascial pain, injury and dysfunction affecting movement and mobility of the body. Treatment is applied in the preventative, corrective and rehabilitative phases of therapy to restore and maintain the normal integrity of the soft tissue structure (muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia) of the human body. Common forms of treatment techniques include Soft and Deep Tissue mobilization, myofascial release, cupping, dry needling, TENS, corrective exercise and MET (muscle-energy techniques).
Remedial Massage uses both remedial and relaxation soft tissue techniques, to treat musculoskeletal pain and discomfort. Treatment areas include lower back pain, tight neck and shoulders, sciatica, headaches, chronic pain, post exercise recovery and general soft tissue issues. Treatment methods may include: Muscular Energy Technique, Myofascial Release, Deep Tissue Massage, Stretching Techniques, Lymphatic Drainage, Therapeutic Massage, Pregnancy Massage, Swedish Relaxation Massage.
As the head of the Myotherapy/Massage and the Wellness Clinic, Adele brings with her over 20 years of experience in the Allied Health and Fitness industries. Adele completed her Advanced Diploma in 2002 at RMIT and then a Bachelor of Health Science (Clinical Myotherapy) in 2005, and has completed a Masters Degree in Strength and Conditioning through Edith Cowen University in WA. For the past 9 years she has lectured for the Health Science (Clinical Myotherapy) Degree at the Southern School of Natural Therapy.
Adele has worked in a variety of areas, ranging from members of the general community to professional sports, primarily Golf, Athletics and Basketball, as well as high level armature in the areas of cricket and triathlons. However, regardless of her patients background Adele’s primary focus is to both treat the presenting condition and identify and minimise the cause.
Adele is qualified and experienced in a wide range of soft tissue treatments, including Dry Needling, Cupping, Muscle Energy Technique (MET) and Positional Release and has additional strengths in postural correction and corrective exercise.
